About Tile

With a legacy rife with color and strength, tile has been a consistent choice for business and home owners throughout the ages. Always in style, tile flooring offers up endless options, with a whole universe of colors, materials, and textures to choose.

At B & S Carpet One Floor & Home in Opelousas, we carry an exciting and extensive collection of indoor and outdoor tile, with new products always being added. Are you thinking of installing a tile floor or a tile backsplash? Here’s a helpful guide to get you well on your way.

Types of Tile

Trends come and go, but some things stay unchanged. Shoppers today will still encounter three major tile types when they visit our showroom: stone, ceramic, and porcelain continue to account for the vast majority of tile being sold today. Are you wondering which one is the best choice for the space you have in mind?

Because of its inherent sturdiness, ceramic tile works great in public spaces, including those prone to heavy foot traffic. This traditional tile is made out of organic clay, which is then fired in a kiln.

Ceramic can also be fired at even higher temperatures to produce porcelain tile. Porcelain tends to be even denser than ceramic, making it a shoe-in for outdoor a patios, poolside, outdoor walls, and pathways. It also works great in kitchens and bathrooms.

A perennial classic that’s naturally in tune with the outdoors, stone tile is carved from granite, slate, marble, and travertine. It also looks great in indoor hearths and front entryways.
